Max DeRocher returns to Concordia Group’s family of companies this summer as a Summer Intern and Public Affairs Associate, bringing a familiar face and a deeper set of skills. A Waukee native now studying at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, Max is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Business Analytics — maintaining a 3.50 GPA and earning a spot on the Dean’s List along the way.
Max’s connection to the Concordia family started early. He has worked at Global Marketing and Direct Mail since 2022, operating high-volume production equipment for campaign mailings, supporting event logistics, and handling community deliveries. He’s not just someone who knows the work — he’s someone who has done it, and done it well.
On campus, Max has channeled his hands-on experience into leadership. As the elected Sponsorship Chairman for Sigma Pi Xi, he uses his marketing background to secure financial support and merchandise for his chapter’s events and philanthropy efforts. He also serves as a Campus Representative for Polymarket, collaborating with student organizations across the country and helping them connect with the platform. A member of the Applied AI Club, Max stays sharp on emerging technology and its implications — a mindset that fits naturally into the ever-evolving world of communications and public affairs.
Max’s commitment to community runs deep. Through the Knights of Columbus, he has volunteered since 2016 across multiple parishes, and through Meals from the Heartland, he has helped package thousands of meals for those in need across Iowa and beyond. He was honored as Student Athlete of the Year at Dowling Catholic, recognized for both academic and athletic achievement, and was inducted into the National Honor Society.
When he’s not in the office or the classroom, Max is outdoors — golfing, boating, and fishing whenever Iowa weather allows. He’s a proud fan of the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Twins, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
